Sanchita Pandey is a Mumbai-based singer-songwriter and Indian classical music expert with a thriving community of over 150,000 followers across all socials.
Her journey began in the 1990s, when her passion for music led her to earn a degree in Indian Classical music (Sangeet Visharad), which she completed with first-in-class distinction. Sanchita tackled an advanced music diploma course next — the prestigious Sangeet Shiromani (typically a two-year program; but Sanchita’s audition was so impressive that she was allowed to skip the first year and begin directly in the second!)
Rooted in the belief that “music is meditation,” she began writing original songs in 2021. She has since released music across a wide emotional and stylistic spectrum — from devotional bhajans ('Tere Jitne Bhakt') to Bollywood-style love songs (fusion synth-pop 'Mere Sanam') and festival anthems ('Holi Rang'). Through her evolving catalogue, Sanchita continues to expand what indie Hindi songwriting can look like beyond mainstream cinema.
She shares her original music, as well as covers and musical theory analyses of Bollywood songs, through her YouTube channel. The channel hosts over a decade of Sanchita's work, which aims to make classical music accessible for everyone — regardless of skill level, musical education, age, location, time, or money!
